This award-winning project was commissioned by a very energetic and vibrant beautiful couple, Robert Facciola and Marie Peyman. Having lived in Silicone Valley, San Francisco for a long period, they decided on a lifestyle change and selected Naisoso Island as their new destination. Their brief was simple but direct, "a tropical resort feel with local architectural vernacular". The site is an amalgamation of two lots, 147 and 148 into one compromising of 3,646m2 in area. The planning of the site was worked up into various pavilions scattered but orderly connected in a tropical garden with water features. Landscaping played a pivotal role in providing lush natural tropical gardens to bridge the indoor-outdoor connectivity. The material pallet was kept simple with stone floor finishes, render plaster paint-finished walls, and exposed pine poles with “magimagi” (traditional coconut fibre rope) joints. Our design studio was inspired by this residential project which showcases cultural and tropical elements to its fullest.
